Backhand Shot – Perfect Mechanics

The Backhand Shot is an entirely different type of shot technique-wise versus the Forehand Wrist Shot!

The Backhand Shot
P.T. Training Systems:
1. The VertX Hockey Training System - Guide Bar up to develop the biomechanics behind the 4 Shooting Phases.

2. P.T. Shooting System - using the Arrowed Lines, a player is able to apply the biomechanical techniques learned and developed within the 4 Shooting Phases in training with the Guide Bar to the Arrowed Lines.

3. P.T. Stickhandling System combined with V.H.T.S or P.T. Shooting System - a player can use a combination of P.T. Stickhandling drills centered around finishing with a Backhand Shot in V.H.T.S with the Guide Bar down, or the Arrowed Lines.

Biomechanical Skills Assessment Notes:
1. V.H.T.S. – Guide Bar up or down depending on usage (Arrowed Lines included).

2. Player in Forward Press Hockey Stance. See FWD Press Hockey Stance video for review.

3. Place stick shaft on Guide Bar with heel of stick meeting the blue line.

4. Puck is placed on the heel of the blade.

5. Note: Follow written prompts for R/L handed players.

A. The Load Up Phase:
